A marketing új és érdekes eszköze: a történetmesélés. Néhány gondolatot összeszedtem a témában és egy jó TED előadást is csatoltam nemcsak azoknak, akik az angoljukat fejlesztenék, hanem azoknak is, akik fejlesztenék a vállalkozásukat.

Nowadays you can hear a lot about stories and storytelling as a useful marketing tool. What does it mean exactly? This actually helps brands to connect with their customers and increase brand loyalty. Telling stories can entertain customers and it is a useful technique that helps business owners to convey a message in an engaging way to capture the attention of their clients. This is killing two birds with one stone: it does not only give information about new products and services but forms an emotional bond, which is so important in making customers loyal.

Brian Eisenberg, professional marketing speaker said: „Facts tell but stories sell.” Traditionally advertisements just spewed out special offers and convincing beneficts of the product, storytelling is more powerful in engaging the attention of the audience. It is pivotal as people are getting blind to ads and companies have to struggle hard to grab their attention.

It has several advantages. Storytelling is the perfect platform to let your brand’s personality shine through. That will help customers identify with you. The story will portray your brand as protagonist and and  the brand is intrinsically linked to the story’s message. The brand needs to stand out. Storytelling is perhaps the best way to hit that emotional chord with your customers. Tell stories that evoke feelings but be genuine as customers can easily see through.

When done well, storytelling can do wonders for a business: such as turn a brand into a legacy, create a robust marketing strategy, generate profit and win the loyalty and affection of audiences, to name just a few.-says Celina Da Costa. A clearly communicated story is the backbone of a strong marketing strategy. Businesses have a purpose and values, which  need to be communicated with a story that captures people’s attention.

The most successful companies in the world have profound stories behind them (often deeply tied to their founders) that instill a sense of bigger purpose and meaning into what they do. For example, Apple, Tesla and Google are so much more than companies – they are legacy brands created by visionaries who aspire(d) to change the world.

Perhaps a business doesn’t aspire to be the next Apple, but it is worth asking: should the business just be a product or service provider, or a vision that an audience believes in and subscribes to?
